About the position

As a Software Engineer II at Walmart, you will leverage your expertise in Swift or Kotlin programming languages to contribute to the development, enhancement, and release of the Walmart Business App. This role is pivotal in our mission to empower team members, stores, and merchants through technological innovation, ultimately enhancing customer service across various sectors including groceries, entertainment, and crafts. Our team collaborates closely with both our U.S. stores and eCommerce business to ensure that we meet the diverse needs of our customers, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through our mobile apps, or in-store. In this position, you will be responsible for designing and developing highly scalable e-commerce applications tailored for the iOS or Android platforms. This includes implementing applications using standard iPhone/iPad UI components, creating custom user interfaces, and writing multi-threaded and networked applications. You will tackle complex software system challenges by utilizing cutting-edge technology and will gain exposure to various emerging technologies utilized in marketing and e-commerce platforms. Your role will also involve driving high-visibility projects across the organization, participating in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects, and ensuring timely delivery of solutions. You will engage in reviewing project requirements, translating them into technical solutions, gathering necessary information, writing and developing code, conducting unit testing, and communicating status updates and issues to team members and stakeholders. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential as you troubleshoot open issues, implement bug fixes, and enhance designs to prevent future defects. Your contributions will be crucial in ensuring that our applications not only meet but exceed user expectations, thereby playing a significant role in the future of retail technology.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop highly scalable e-commerce applications for the iOS or Android platform.
  • Implement applications with standard iPhone/iPad UI components and create custom UI.
  • Write multi-threaded and networked applications.
  • Solve complex software systems problems using state-of-the-art technology.
  • Drive high-visibility projects across the organization.
  • Participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Review project requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Gather requested information such as design documents and product requirements.
  • Write and develop code, conduct unit testing, and communicate status and issues to team members and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot open issues and bug-fixes.
  • Enhance design to prevent re-occurrences of defects and ensure on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of the iOS or Android application life cycle.
  • Knowledge of Swift programming language, iPhone SDK, and XCode OR knowledge of Kotlin programming language for Android.
  • Experience writing multi-threaded and networked applications.
  • Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical discussions.
  • Proficient with event-driven architecture.
  • Attention to detail and a desire to learn and collaborate.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Security+, Network+, GISF, or GSEC.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices.
