About the position

The Software Engineer II position at Travelers Insurance focuses on Site Reliability and DevSecOps engineering. The role involves advanced engineering tasks including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, and implementing systems based on user specifications. The individual will work independently and collaboratively to solve complex problems, provide technical guidance, and contribute to the overall technology transformation of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, design, development, and configuration functions with high accuracy and speed.
  • Analyze, assess, and resolve defects and incidents of advanced complexity.
  • Work independently on well-scoped and loosely scoped problems.
  • Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Two years of programming/development experience.
  • Four years of programming/development experience preferred.
  • Four years of DevOps/Site Reliability experience preferred.
  • Experience with shell/bash scripting, Linux, and CI tools or Pipelines.
  • Experience with application performance monitoring tools like Dynatrace/App D/Grafana/Influx stack or ELK stack.
  • General understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools like Terraform.
  • Experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases.
