About the position

As a Software Engineer II at Cox Automotive, you will leverage your expertise in modern software design and best practices to develop and optimize data pipelines that support various stakeholders. This role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and the use of new technologies to create efficient solutions. You will work in an Agile environment, focusing on both front-end and back-end development, while also engaging in mentoring and code reviews with your team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize data pipelines for stakeholders such as websites, advertising, data science, and data analysts.
  • Implement and design custom data streaming applications using technologies like Kafka, AWS, and Scala.
  • Prioritize and practice the infrastructure as code principle with Terraform and AWS CDK.
  • Build, deploy, and test using CI/CD best practices.
  • Participate in the exploration and proof of concept of new technologies.
  • Collaborate with team members on best practices, code reviews, and process improvements.
  • Evangelize new ideas within your team and across teams.
  • Develop reports on various platforms including PowerBI, JasperSoft, and Tableau.
  • Explore open source or industry standard solutions that could fit the organization.
  • Collaborate with your team to build, deploy, monitor, and support a highly performing production system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience in a related field, or a master's degree with up to 2 years' experience, or 6 years' experience in a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable software systems.
  • Professional full stack development experience with Java, AWS, .NET, react.js, Shell script, TypeScript, Python, DevOps tools, SQL, CI/CD pipeline, and API creation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
  • Solid listening skills and flexibility in ideas.
  • Experience in realizing applications from conception to support.
