About the position

As part of Walmart's Affiliates and Social-Commerce team, this position involves building highly scalable and reliable APIs, data pipelines, services, and applications that drive the next generation of affiliates, open-API, and social commerce experiences. The role requires independent handling of high-impact software and systems monitoring issues, troubleshooting business and production issues, and contributing to innovative methodologies that significantly impact business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop highly scalable data pipelines and services.
  • Solve complex software systems problems using state-of-the-art technology.
  • Drive high visibility projects across the organization.
  • Participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Review project requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Gather requested information such as design documents and product requirements.
  • Write and develop code, conduct unit testing, and communicate status and issues to team members and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and troubleshoot open issues and bug-fixes.
  • Enhance design to prevent re-occurrences of defects and ensure on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 3-5 years of experience, or a master's degree in Computer Science or related field and 1-3 years of experience in building scalable e-commerce applications.
  • Proficient in real-time and batch data pipelines using big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Hive).
  • Extensive experience with Kafka or other high volume-low latency messaging infrastructure.
  • Proficient in RESTful Services, Java, Scala, Spring Boot/Play Framework, RDBMS, NoSQL, and Python.
  • Experience with Cloud Technologies like Azure and GCP.

Nice-to-haves

  • Designed, built, and maintained APIs and services for highly scalable platforms.
  • Extensive knowledge of open-source libraries, design patterns, and micro-service architecture.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and unit testing.
  • Experience in production system operations (logging, telemetry, alerting, etc.).
  • Keen attention to detail and a desire to learn and collaborate.
