About the position

As a Software Engineer III - Java and Database Developer at JPMorgan Chase within Asset and Wealth Management, you will be a key member of an agile team responsible for designing and delivering innovative technology products. This role focuses on developing critical technology solutions that support the firm's business objectives, particularly in the area of compliance and data management. You will have the opportunity to work on application modernization using advanced technologies such as cloud-based microservices and event-based communication.

Responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with innovative approaches.
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met.
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets for continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events exploring new technologies.
  • Promotes a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience in Core/Full-stack Java, Object-oriented analysis and design techniques, and Rest APIs.
  • Experience with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, or other database technologies including query optimization.
  • Practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficient in coding in one or more programming languages.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a corporate environment with modern programming and database querying languages.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
