About the position

As a Software Engineer III - Java/Kafka/AWS Developer at JPMorgan Chase, you will be a key member of an agile team focused on designing and delivering technology products aimed at fraud detection and prevention. This role involves executing software solutions, developing high-quality production code, and ensuring system stability and security while supporting the firm's business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Create secure and high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
  • Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets for continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
  • Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Adopt new technologies quickly and demonstrate knowledge to the team.
  • Assist junior team members and create a collaborative environment.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in production environments and provide timely resolutions.
  • Ensure code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and continuous integration.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
  • Experience with Java/J2EE and core APIs with a deep understanding of the language.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in implementing Microservices using Spring Boot and Event-Driven architecture.
  • Experience in using SQL & Database - Oracle or Cassandra.
  • Experience in using Kafka on Cloud/AWS.
  • Experience with testing frameworks - Cucumber, Junit.
  • Practical experience with unit testing including understanding of Mock Testing Frameworks like EasyMock or Mockito.
