About the position

As a Software Engineer at Google, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on developing next-generation technologies that enhance how billions of users connect and interact with information. This role involves working on critical projects, particularly within the Geo team, which is dedicated to creating accurate and comprehensive mapping solutions. You will have the opportunity to switch teams and projects, allowing for growth and versatility in your career. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions, while also managing project priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience in Android application development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, and/or debugging.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
