About the position

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level. As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank - Payments Technology team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives. As a Pega Rules Process Commander developer, you will work in an Agile team closely with development team members, technical leads, project managers, and User Acceptance Testing teams to ensure that quality code is delivered which meets the business and technical requirements in Agile methodology. The position requires good business analysis and written and oral communication skills, knowledge of object-oriented design and Web services, agile development methodology, an understanding of and some exposure to all aspects of the project life cycle, and strong technical development skills. Ability to learn and adopt changes in technology such as new versions of Pega and exploring new features like Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics, etc. This position is accountable to Technology management for application design, development, documentation, implementation, and post-implementation maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
  • Independently drives calls and discussions with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3 years applied experience in Pega.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages, such as Java, and API, web services.
  • Strong understanding of Cloud architecture.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages such as SQL.
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodology development.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience in architecture design and development with Pega version 8, and Pega Rules Process Commander (PRPC).
  • Pega certification in Certified Senior System Architect (CSSA) or Pega Lead System Architect.
  • Good to have experience on any Pega Rules Process Commander Frameworks such as Customer Processing Management (CPM), Smart Investigate (SI), Pega Knowledge Buddy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to cloud technologies.
  • Exposure to full life-cycle experience in large systems, ideally in the Financial industry.
  • Knowledge on UNIX, Apache Tomcat, SQL.
  • Knowledge with Kubernetes.
  • Masters or Bachelor's degree in Engineering on Computer Science or Information Technology.
