About the position

Truist is seeking a Software Engineer III to focus on Site Reliability work for Credit Card reporting directly to our Credit Card Production Support Group Head. This individual will work as part of a team of Monitoring Engineers to enhance the observability of all Wholesale Technology applications using tools like Splunk and Dynatrace. They will collaborate with internal IT partners to evaluate and gather requirements for establishing and/or enhancing application monitoring, observability, resiliency, and incident management. The role involves performing post-mortem reviews of incidents and analyzing gaps in observability that can help reduce overall Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR). The ideal candidate will have prior experience with Payments Technology application support teams in triaging active incidents using observability tools and proactively increasing visibility into Payments Technology applications by enhancing coverage and building dashboards. They will also perform problem tracking, diagnosis, root-cause analysis, replication, troubleshooting, and resolution for complex issues, which includes programming and debugging activities. The essential duties and responsibilities include partnering with senior business leaders to understand business strategy and working in cross-functional teams to drive successful strategic outcomes. The candidate will lead the analysis of business and user needs, requirements documentation, performance measurement, and the interpretation of results for both internal and external stakeholders. They will also lead the analysis effort to gather, formulate, define, and design solutions to complex business problems, analyze, design, and maintain data sources in information systems in support of projects, and measure client interaction to improve client experience, digital adoption, and marketing segmentation using various analytics tools such as SAS, Adobe Analytics, R, and Python. The candidate will apply subject-matter expertise, industry knowledge, and technical understanding to recommend actions to business leaders and act as a team leader for projects with large budgets or intermediate-long duration, bringing industry best practices to the team and incorporating them into solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team of Monitoring Engineers to enhance observability of Wholesale Technology applications.
  • Collaborate with internal IT partners to evaluate and gather requirements for application monitoring and incident management.
  • Perform post-mortem reviews of incidents and analyze gaps in observability to reduce MTTR.
  • Triaging active incidents using observability tools and increasing visibility into Payments Technology applications.
  • Build dashboards and perform problem tracking, diagnosis, root-cause analysis, replication, troubleshooting, and resolution for complex issues.
  • Partner with senior business leaders to understand business strategy and drive successful outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, or Information Technology-related field, or equivalent education and related training.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in analysis and design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
  • Working knowledge of analytical toolsets such as SAS, SQL, R Studio, Python, and Data warehousing.
  • Understanding and implementation experience with enterprise digital marketing optimization and analytics tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant field or equivalent education and experience.
  • Three to four years of demonstrated experience with distributed systems in Information Technology.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in application development/support.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for planned and unplanned efforts.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of DMZ security technologies including LDAP.
  • Experience with Azure and AWS cloud.
  • Familiarity with load balancing methods.
  • Experience with ServiceNow incidents and requests.
  • Familiarity with Dynatrace, Splunk, xMatters.
  • Experience with multi-environment deployments for various technologies.
  • Knowledge in networking, database, and servers at the enterprise level.
  • Basic understanding of PowerShell automation and scripting.
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Linux, AIX, Windows Operating System.
