About the position

Meta is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the Software Engineering (Infrastructure) team, which is responsible for building large distributed components that run Facebook. The role involves designing core backend software components and ensuring they operate efficiently at scale, handling millions of requests per second with sub-second latency. Candidates should be passionate about tackling complexity and building scalable platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design core, backend software components
• Code using primarily C/C++, Java, PHP, and Hack
• Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa
• Conduct design and code reviews
• Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources

Requirements

• 2+ years of programming experience in a relevant programming language
• 2+ years relevant experience building large-scale infrastructure systems or similar experience
• 1+ year of experience identifying, designing and completing medium to large features independently without guidance
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Javascript or Hack
• Experience building and shipping high quality work and achieving high reliability
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice-to-haves

• Exposure to architectural patterns of large scale software applications
• Experience in programming languages such as C, C++, Java
