Interns will enjoy the flexibility of working two days remotely and three days in the office each week at one of our state-of-the-art locations in Chicago, Kansas City, or New York City. The Data Pipeline Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join us in managing, reconciling, and processing all data across Cboe's North American trading exchanges. This role involves developing and supporting integrated back-office processing for trade clearing, customer reporting, billing, symbol processing, regulatory reporting, and data exchange with third parties. Interns will onboard with the DPE team, build their local development environment, and learn best practices for quality software engineering. They will lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of at least one project, with guidance from senior team mentors, and participate in system improvements as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Join the Data Pipeline Engineering team managing, reconciling, and processing all data across Cboe North American trading exchanges environments.
  • Develop and support exchange integrated back-office processing for trade clearing, customer reporting, billing, symbol processing, regulatory reporting, and data exchange with third parties.
  • Onboard with the DPE team, building your local development environment and understanding best practices for quality software engineering at Cboe.
  • Lead design, development, testing, and deployment for at least one project supported by senior team mentors to be installed in production before the completion of the internship.
  • Participate in small but important DPE systems resiliency, maintainability, scalability, or performance improvements as assigned by your manager.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field, and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place.
  • Solid knowledge of software engineering data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with Python or experience in another programming language with a desire to learn Python.
  • Experience with Linux or UNIX-like systems and knowledge of at least one scripting language.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Postgres or similar relational databases is desirable.
  • Experience with AWS, Snowflake, and cloud-based platforms and services is desirable.
  • A GPA of 3.5 or higher and being a rising junior or senior not scheduled to graduate before December 2025 is highly preferred.
