Software Engineer Intern - Design Systems (Summer)

About the position

The company is building a system of intelligence for every company in the world, combining the capabilities of Google and ChatGPT for the enterprise. Founded by a team of former Google search and Facebook engineers, Glean aims to connect AI with knowledge, providing industry-leading search relevance and generative AI applications. The Software Engineer Intern will join the Design Systems team to contribute to building and improving the design system, enhancing product development efficiency, and creating intuitive user experiences. This is a hybrid 12-week internship based in Palo Alto.

Responsibilities

• Develop reusable UI components for web and mobile platforms
• Implement and maintain design tokens
• Collaborate with designers to translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect, accessible components
• Contribute to developing and enhancing the design system's core components
• Create user-friendly tools to facilitate the design system's implementation across the product ecosystem
• Work across different functional areas and collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in computer science and software development fundamentals
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Passion for design systems, UI/UX, and building reusable, scalable components
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

• Prior internship, work experience, or projects that demonstrate frontend/design systems knowledge
