About the position

As a Lead Java Engineer at State Street, you will play a crucial role in the Cash and Payments organization, providing leadership and vision in enhancing current platforms while focusing on future developments. This position involves establishing best practices, designing, developing, and deploying microservices and UIs on both on-premises and public cloud environments. You will act as a technical subject matter expert, offering hands-on guidance and mentorship to development teams, and contributing to the evaluation and selection of software solutions. Your leadership will ensure that all implementation solutions align with architecture objectives such as availability, scalability, performance, security, maintainability, flexibility, portability, and reusability.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build new software and features for existing systems.
  • Utilize strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and design patterns to create efficient, testable, and maintainable software.
  • Provide detailed technical designs explaining the impact of application components for release changes.
  • Identify continuous improvements to the development process to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Participate in discussions regarding application architecture, configurations, system performance tuning, and middleware integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software developer.
  • Hands-on experience with micro-services and component-based architectures.
  • Experience with programming languages and tools such as Java, Spring, Node JS, React, JavaScript, Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL, MySQL, NoSQL Databases, MQ, and Kafka.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with private/hybrid/public cloud architectures.
  • Experience in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Grafana, Splunk, Prometheus, Dynatrace.
  • Experience with agile and waterfall delivery practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Selenium, Junit, Jasmine, Mocha, Cucumber BDD framework.
  • Experience with delivery efficiency software such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
