About the position

The Software Engineer - Java position at Insight Global involves working in the financial analytics sector, focusing on backend development. The role requires collaboration within a medium-grade agile environment, engaging in daily standups and sprints, and responding to enterprise-level requests. The initial phase will involve understanding the existing architecture, transitioning into an individual contributor role where the engineer will convert requirements into technical designs and implement them.

Responsibilities

• Work within a medium-grade agile process, participating in standups and sprints.
• Monitor and evaluate the current landscape, responding to enterprise-level requests.
• Understand the architecture and environment during the first month.
• Convert requirements into technical designs and build out the requirements.
• Collaborate with smaller project teams of approximately 7 people.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Java experience in building end-to-end code in an enterprise environment and supporting production.
• 3+ years of experience operating in an AWS environment.
• Experience working with relational databases, including NoSQL and MongoDB.
• Ability to understand complex queries and performance tune them, though not necessarily an expert.
• Experience with PubSub, Kafka, or SNS.
• Experience with production-scale level code, handling significant production screenings, and familiarity with Elastic Search.

Nice-to-haves

• Python experience is a plus.
