About the position

The Software Engineer - Java position is focused on the design and development of core customer-facing applications for one of the largest retailers in the music industry. The role emphasizes middle and back-end software development, with a goal to modernize and consolidate the application landscape to enhance customer experience and improve operational efficiency. Responsibilities

• Perform the technical design and development of complex application systems using existing and emerging technology platforms.
• Conduct analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, implementation, and documentation of solutions.
• Develop basic and detailed program specifications.
• Communicate and demonstrate solutions through documentation, diagrams, clear code, and code comments.
• Ensure that expected application performance levels are achieved.
• Monitor operating efficiency of existing application systems.
• Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and recommend technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Strong experience with Java development (core Java and J2EE).
• Strong SQL experience and back-end programming.
• Knowledge of various SQL-based relational databases such as DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
• Strong experience with REST Web Services and other APIs.
• Experience building external, customer-facing applications.
• Experience with version control (Git a plus).
• Experience with Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with front-end development in languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSP, Vue.js, React.
• Experience developing Azure applications and Azure functions.
• Experience with Spring Boot/microservices architecture.
• Experience in Retail or eCommerce industries.
