About the position

The Software Engineer L4/L5 position focuses on building and enhancing the data and feature infrastructure for Netflix's Machine Learning Platform. This role is crucial for enabling machine learning practitioners to efficiently define, test, and utilize machine learning features and labels, thereby improving productivity and innovation across various domains such as personalized recommendations and payment processing.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a near-real-time feature computation engine for ML features.
• Operate and manage feature computation pipelines and serving infrastructure for ML models.
• Build and scale systems to accelerate training through efficient data loading and transformation.
• Create frameworks to expedite the availability of new data for training and serving.
• Develop feature stores for feature discovery and sharing.
• Enhance the productivity of ML practitioners by simplifying access to features and labels.

Requirements

• Experience in building ML or data infrastructure.
• Strong empathy and passion for providing a fantastic user experience to ML practitioners.
• Experience in building and operating 24/7 high-traffic and low-latency online applications.
• Familiarity with large-scale data processing frameworks such as Spark, Flink, and Kafka.
• Experience in working with and optimizing Scala and/or Python codebases.
• Experience with public clouds, especially AWS.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in building and operating ML feature stores.
• Familiarity with Functional Programming.
• Experience working with Notebooks such as Jupyter or Polynote.
