About the position

The Software Engineer L5 position focuses on building developer productivity tools for Netflix's machine learning teams. The role involves designing, building, and maintaining tools that facilitate the daily work of machine learning researchers, contributing to Netflix's core applied machine learning initiatives that enhance recommendations, personalization, and search algorithms. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with ML researchers to identify challenges and develop effective solutions, leveraging a strong software engineering background and experience with CI/CD systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain developer productivity tools for machine learning teams.
• Collaborate with machine learning researchers to identify frictions in their workflows.
• Develop solutions to enhance the efficiency of machine learning processes.
• Operate and manage large CI/CD systems.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with a successful track record of delivering quality results.
• Strong software design and development skills in Scala, Java, C#, or C++.
• Experience with large-scale data frameworks such as Spark or Hadoop.
• Experience with parallel and distributed computing.
• BS in Computer Science or related field.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience operating and customizing Bazel or similar distributed build systems.
• Significant contributions to open source projects.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
