About the position

Meta is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the Software Engineering (Infrastructure) team, which is responsible for building large distributed components that support Facebook's operations. The role involves tackling complex challenges and developing scalable platforms that can handle millions of requests per second with sub-second latency. The ideal candidate will lead technical direction, collaborate with organizational leaders, and drive the team's goals to enhance efficiency and performance.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate complex features and systems in detail.
• Drive the team's goals and technical direction to pursue opportunities that make the larger organization more efficient.
• Understand industry-wide trends to help assess and develop new technologies.
• Partner and collaborate with organization leaders to improve team and organizational performance.
• Identify new opportunities for the larger organization and influence staffing/prioritization of these ideas.
• Lead long-term technical vision and roadmap for large cross-company efforts.
• Suggest, collect, and synthesize requirements to create an effective feature roadmap.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of coding experience in C, C++, Java, and/or C#.
• 12+ years of experience building server applications.
• Experience leading projects with industry-wide impact.
• Significant experience in mentoring and influencing senior engineers across organizations.
• Proven track record of planning multi-year roadmaps with shorter-term projects aligning to long-term vision.
• Experience in driving large cross-functional and industry-wide engineering efforts.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with operating system internals, filesystems, programming language design, and compilers.
