About the position

SAIC is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to support the Army Futures Command, focusing on assessing threats and future operational environments. The role involves developing future concepts and requirements to enhance Army capabilities, particularly in Multi-Domain Operations (MDO). The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective agile software development and integration of modernization pathways for the Army.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Army Futures Command in assessing threats and future operational environments.
  • Assist in developing future concepts, requirements, and an integrated modernization pathway.
  • Support the design, development, and fielding of a Multi-Domain Operations (MDO)-capable Army by 2028 and beyond.
  • Analyze and integrate DOTMLPF-P solutions.
  • Synchronize materiel solution resources to support capability development for Army 2030 and 2040 goals.
  • Provide oversight and coaching for FCC's agile software requirement efforts.
  • Oversee the implementation and execution of agile software requirements in Army capability development documents.
  • Coach and assist FID Capability Developers in agile software capability development activities.
  • Lead and support the processing of materiel solution software requirement documents for A-CIDS validation and approval.
  • Attend meetings requiring an agile software development perspective and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Lead work groups, prepare and present briefing products, and provide executive summaries and status updates.
  • Advise and coordinate CDID Entry Gate package submissions for senior leader decision forums.
  • Attend AROC forums addressing software development efforts.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field.
  • A minimum of ten years' experience in the U.S. Army/defense agency or government organization in progressively responsible staff positions.
  • Proven DevSecOps experience and best practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum, and Lean.
