About the position

As a Software Engineer and Rates Solution Developer (ION SME) at UBS, you will play a crucial role in delivering innovative solutions that support the Fixed Income Rates and Credit trading desks. Your primary responsibility will be to develop solutions that address key business challenges using ION tools, while ensuring that existing functionalities remain intact. You will engage with business stakeholders to elicit essential information, transforming these insights into concise IT requirements. Additionally, you will manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and conduct demonstration sessions with key business leads to ensure alignment and satisfaction with the developed solutions. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with other global IT teams and assist the production operations team in the rollout and ongoing production support of the solutions you develop. You will be tasked with designing, developing, and improving the digital products and technology services provided to clients and employees. This includes applying a broad range of software engineering practices, from analyzing user needs and developing new features to implementing automated testing and deployment processes. Ensuring the quality, security, reliability, and compliance of our solutions is paramount, and you will achieve this by adhering to our digital principles and implementing both functional and non-functional requirements. In addition to development, you will build observability into the solutions, monitor production health, and help resolve incidents while remediating the root causes of risks and issues. Understanding, representing, and advocating for client needs will be a significant part of your role, as will sharing your knowledge and expertise with colleagues. You will also contribute to hiring efforts and regularly engage with our engineering culture and internal communities, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. This position is based in New York, US, and you will be part of a fast-paced, highly motivated, and delivery-focused team that spans across 8 cities in 6 countries, covering the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific. The team is dedicated to creating and delivering innovative solutions for complex business problems while maintaining a multifaceted platform.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions to key business challenges using ION tools.
  • Elicit key information from business stakeholders and transform it into concise IT requirements.
  • Manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and conduct demonstration sessions with key business leads.
  • Collaborate with global IT teams and assist the production operations team in rollout and production support.
  • Design, develop, and improve digital products and technology services for clients and employees.
  • Apply a broad range of software engineering practices, including analyzing user needs and developing new features.
  • Implement automated testing and deployment processes to ensure quality, security, reliability, and compliance.
  • Build observability into solutions and monitor production health.

  • Understand, represent, and advocate for client needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with ION core platform, AQ, NegLib at an SME level.
  • 5+ years of experience with ION MMI at an SME level.
  • Solid understanding of bond pricing using PXE and Rates and Credit Bonds and derivatives products.
  • Detailed understanding of trading venues such as Bloomberg and TradeWeb.
  • 2 years of experience integrating ION with Kafka.
  • Solid experience with Unix and SQL.
  • Experience in automated testing and continuous integration is a plus.
  • Experience with Python, Perl, and other scripting languages is a plus.
