About the position

The Software Engineer position within AbbVie's Data & Digital Strategy team focuses on automating reporting solutions to enhance data analytics and insights across the organization. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain automated reporting systems, primarily using the Windward Report Automation platform and other advanced technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, particularly in report automation, and will contribute to improving data quality and reporting efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated reporting solutions using the Windward Report Automation platform.
• Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and other stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy automation solutions for generating reports from various data sources.
• Ensure high levels of data quality and integrity in all reporting solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to report generation and automation.
• Continuously improve and optimize reporting processes for reuse, efficiency and scalability.
• Document technical designs, processes, and solutions for ongoing use and maintenance.
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies related to data reporting and automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a scientific discipline with relevant informatics experience.
• 5-8 years of relevant experience in software engineering, with a focus on report automation and data reporting tools.
• Experienced in using scripting language (SQL, RestAPI's, Python) to optimize coding for template creation.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
• Solid understanding of SQL and data manipulation.
• Experience with ETL processes and data integration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with the Windward Report Automation platform.
• Familiarity with other reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Crystal Reports.
• Knowledge of biopharmaceutical or healthcare industries.
