About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer at Datadog is responsible for maintaining the reliability, availability, and performance of high-volume, low-latency environments. This role involves close collaboration with product engineers to ensure that Datadog can effectively monitor millions of servers and containers, providing customers with dependable and actionable data. The engineer will shape the infrastructure of data-intensive, real-time services as the company scales to petabyte levels.

Responsibilities

  • Keep our service reliable, available, and fast as a member of the operations team.
  • Respond to, investigate, and fix service issues, whether they be deep in the OS kernel or in the application code.
  • Design, build, and maintain the infrastructure needed to support orders of magnitude more customers.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of programming experience.
  • Experience in the operations of a large site.
  • Strong focus on correctness and efficiency in diagnosing production issues.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and automation.
  • Production experience with distributed compute/storage tools such as zookeeper, cassandra, postgres, kafka, elasticsearch, redis.
