About the position

The Software Engineer in Solutions Engineering at Canonical will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of open source IT and DevOps. This position focuses on developing next-generation infrastructure-as-code solutions that enhance software operations, particularly in high-performance computing and private cloud environments. The engineer will work closely with a global team to create open source automation capabilities, primarily using Python, while also engaging with the entire Linux stack. The role emphasizes high-quality software design, collaboration, and continuous learning in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Work in Python and Golang to design and deliver open source software operations code
• Work with the entire Linux stack, from kernel, networking, storage, to applications
• Shape high quality open source monitoring and alerting infrastructure
• Rethink open source operations for our customers and open source community
• Demonstrate sound engineering design and testing principles in your code
• Follow agile software development practices
• Coach and develop your colleagues where you have insights
• Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company values
• Global travel up to 10% of time for internal and external events

Requirements

• Passionate Python developer
• Organized and focused on timely, high quality software delivery
• Understanding of reliable operations in an agile environment
• Sound knowledge of cloud computing concepts & technologies
• Practical knowledge of Linux and networking
