About the position

Meta is seeking Machine Learning Engineers to join our engineering team, specifically in a role that emphasizes technical leadership. The ideal candidate will possess industry experience in tackling a variety of classification and optimization challenges, such as payment fraud detection, click-through rate prediction, click-fraud detection, search ranking, text and sentiment classification, collaborative filtering and recommendation systems, as well as spam detection. This position will require the application of these skills to some of the most exciting and large-scale social data and prediction problems that exist on the web today. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the team's goals and technical direction, pursuing opportunities that enhance the efficiency of the larger organization. You will need to effectively communicate complex features and systems in detail, while also understanding industry and company-wide trends to assess and develop new technologies. Collaboration with organizational leaders will be essential to improve the performance of both the team and the organization as a whole. You will identify new opportunities for the organization and influence the appropriate stakeholders for staffing and prioritizing these new ideas. Additionally, you will be tasked with suggesting, collecting, and synthesizing requirements to create an effective feature roadmap. Developing highly scalable classifiers and tools that leverage machine learning, data regression, and rules-based models will be a key responsibility. You will also need to adapt standard machine learning methods to best exploit modern parallel environments, such as distributed clusters, multicore SMP, and GPU.

  • Develop highly scalable classifiers and tools leveraging machine learning, data regression, and rules-based models
  • Adapt standard machine learning methods to best exploit modern parallel environments (e.g. distributed clusters, multicore SMP, and GPU)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience leading projects with industry-wide impact
  • Experience communicating and working across functions to drive solutions
  • Experience in mentoring/influencing senior engineers across organizations
  • Proven track record of planning multi-year roadmap in which short-term projects ladder to the long-term vision
  • Experience in driving large cross-functional/industry-wide engineering efforts
  • 12+ years of experience in programming languages (Python, C++, Java or R) with technical background
  • 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, NLP, data mining or artificial intelligence

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in shipping products to millions of customers or have started a new line of product
  • Experience with Hadoop/HBase/Pig or MapReduce/Sawzall/Bigtable/Hive/Spark
