About the position

The Software Engineer within the Global Customs - IT Product team is responsible for the full cycle of systems development activities, including software design, development, and deployment. This role focuses on launching new systems and enhancing existing ones, utilizing agile methodologies to ensure that solutions meet architecture patterns, performance characteristics, security measures, and customer requirements. The engineer will lead integration planning, data migration activities, and provide technical leadership while collaborating with cross-functional teams across different time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate IT solutions using agile methodology.
  • Plan iterations, develop tests, and implement POCs and new features.
  • Coordinate with teams to prepare and stage production builds.
  • Verify production releases to meet technical and business expectations.
  • Lead and coordinate data migration and conversion activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor other developers.
  • Critically evaluate provided solutions and suggest alternatives.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers across time zones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in project management and software development.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Agile methodologies, defining product vision, and managing backlogs.
  • Experience with Java/Springboot, JPA-Hibernate, and scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
  • Proficiency in SQL and No-SQL databases.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform services and CI/CD tools.
  • Familiarity with software versioning tools like GitHub and Terraform scripting for IaC.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of cloud-native monitoring tools.
  • Experience with file transfer automation processes like SFTP and MQ.
  • Familiarity with messaging queues like Kafka and Google PubSub.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional global team environment.
  • DevOps experience and interest in learning new tools and languages.
