About the position

Welcome to Gordon Food Service! We are excited that you are considering opportunities with us, and we have an amazing story to share. For over 127 years, we've grown to be the largest family-operated broadline food distributor in North America by being passionately committed to the people we serve. As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing, creating, and modifying ERP and third-party computer applications software or specialized utility programs and scripts. You will analyze user needs and develop software solutions that optimize operational efficiency. In this position, you will primarily develop Progress/Openedge programs or scripts according to specifications and established coding standards set forth by our architect and senior software engineers. You will document code for accuracy and optimal implementation of developed solutions, confirm designs with architecture, and learn the programming structure specific to store technology solutions. Additionally, you will write database queries for a tightly coupled Progress/Openedge database and work with internal and external business partners to determine the scope and estimate tasks related to issues that need resolution. Your responsibilities will also include performing integrated testing of systems for accuracy, reliability, scalability, and optimal performance, analyzing and resolving program/script or system failures, facilitating formal code reviews, and performing software system maintenance, support, and requirement analysis. You will assist in designing GUI and software components, contributing to a collaborative and innovative work environment.
