About the position

The Software Engineering Advisor at Evernorth Health Services is a pivotal role focused on providing expert leadership in complex engineering projects, particularly in the areas of Claims Adjudication and Drug Utilization Review systems. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to mentor junior developers while navigating a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The advisor will leverage their knowledge of mainframe technologies and cloud solutions to deliver innovative initiatives that enhance healthcare services.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expert content/professional leadership on complex Engineering assignments/projects.
  • Analyzes, designs, develops and implements solutions for Claims Adjudication and DUR (Drug Utilization Review) systems.
  • Possesses Cobol, CICS, VSAM and DB2 skills.
  • Mentors junior developers.
  • Builds solutions that integrate multiple technologies, including Cloud technologies.
  • Exercises creativity, foresight, and judgment in planning and delivering initiatives.
  • Advises functional leaders using professional knowledge and acumen.
  • Provides thought leadership within DUR and works on broader projects requiring an understanding of wider business.

Requirements

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills with the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with architecture and design to support various Cigna organizations.
  • Proficiency in mainframe technology like COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, VSAM.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including problem solving, decision making, influencing, and change management.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Software Development and Best Practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, and rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience in triaging defects and data analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or 11 years of relevant experience without a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Strong mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and meet project deadlines.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies.
