About the position

The Software Development Engineer II position at AWS Utility Computing (UC) focuses on building and maintaining innovative software solutions that enhance service performance, durability, cost, and security. The role involves designing fault-tolerant systems that operate at massive scale, contributing to the development of foundational services like Amazon S3 and EC2, and ensuring high-quality, highly available products that meet customer needs. The position emphasizes collaboration across diverse teams and projects, with a strong focus on security and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions.
• Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products.
• Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.
• Create metrics, implement automation, and resolve the root cause of software defects.
• Work cross-functionally to help drive business decisions with technical input.

Requirements

• 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 4+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
• Understanding of web services technologies such as SOAP, WSDL, XSD, and REST.
