About the position

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations ranging from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Within AWS UC, Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) roles engage with AWS customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. As a Senior Software Development Engineer on AWS Config, your job will be to work with, and grow, an outstanding development team building one of the largest cloud resource management and compliance systems in the world. The right candidate will possess proven software engineering skills, with experience creating and launching large distributed systems with the help of a team. You are expected to be versatile, able to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and eager to mentor junior engineers. You are data-driven and analytical, and you can clearly and effectively communicate (written as well as verbally) across organizations and up to senior leadership. You will use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all of the team deliverables. AWS Config is a service that enables you to assess, audit, and evaluate the configurations of your AWS resources. Config continuously monitors and records your AWS resource configurations and allows you to automate the evaluation of recorded configurations against desired configurations. Responsibilities

  • Support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS.
  • Work with and grow an outstanding development team building one of the largest cloud resource management and compliance systems in the world.
  • Create and launch large distributed systems with the help of a team.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all team deliverables.
  • Continuously monitor and record AWS resource configurations and automate the evaluation of recorded configurations against desired configurations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
