About the position
We are seeking a senior-level IBM Mainframe and z/OS Systems Programmer with over 5 years of experience. The role involves working with z/OS internals, providing technical guidance, and leading a team of entry-level systems programmers. The position is based onsite in Omaha, NE.
Responsibilities
- Provide delivery work for clients as a lead Systems Programmer.
- Mentor and share technical knowledge with junior Systems Programmers.
- Provide technical guidance and feedback to junior team members.
- Manage z/OS Operations activities, including IPLs and console operations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in IBM Mainframe and z/OS Systems Programming.
- Strong knowledge of z/OS internals (JES2, SMS, HSM).
- Experience with z/OS communications (TCP/IP and VTAM).
- Proficiency in JCL and IBM Utilities (IEBGENER, etc.).
- Experience with REXX scripting; Python is a plus.
- Familiarity with VSAM, DB2, and sequential data formats.
- Programming experience in Cobol and IBM Assembler; Java experience is a plus.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in z/OS Operations activities such as Stand Alone Dump.
