About the position

The z/OS Senior Systems Programmer is responsible for the planning, installation, configuration, customization, and maintenance of the IBM z/OS operating system and its associated software in a multi-LPAR, multi-site environment. This role requires extensive experience with z/OS and involves providing on-call support after hours to address issues and implement changes.

Responsibilities

• Installation and customization of IBM z/OS and associated major subsystems.
• Installation and customization of IBM and non-IBM software products that run on the z/OS operating system.
• Monitor the operating system using tools including BMC to improve performance and diagnose and resolve problems.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and provide follow-up support to various customer organizations.
• Respond to issues generated from the Helpdesk, Operations, and Applications staff.
• Participate in disaster recovery procedures.
• Create and maintain system policies and user documentation.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience with IBM z/OS operating system.
• Internal knowledge of IBM z/OS 2.2 or above.
• Proficient with IBM z/OS installation tools including SMP/E, z/OSMF, PDO, etc.
• Experience in UNIX Systems Services under z/OS.
• Experience with hardware configuration tools (HCD, IODF).

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with z/OS Security product CA Topsecret.
• Knowledge of other IBM products such as CICS and DB2.
