About the position

GlobalFoundries (GF) is a leading full-service semiconductor foundry that provides a unique combination of design, development, and fabrication services to some of the world's most inspired technology companies. The AI/ML Solutions team at GF is focused on delivering data engineering, advanced analytics, and machine learning applications that advance the company's Smart Manufacturing efforts. As an intern in this team, you will be involved in the entire application lifecycle from concept to deployment, contributing to the understanding of how AI/ML technologies can help solve business problems. This internship is designed to provide students with a meaningful work experience that equips them with the skills necessary to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. Interns will receive one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize their growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives. The role requires the intern to engineer data as needed to enable analytics and machine learning application development, learn and explore new technologies in the AI/ML space, and possess strong data analysis and visualization skills. Interns will also ensure that processes are well documented and present project status to peers and the leadership team as needed. Additionally, all activities must be performed in a safe and responsible manner, supporting all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Responsibilities

• Engineer the data as needed to enable analytics and machine learning application development
• Learn and explore new technologies in the AI/ML space
• Demonstrate strong data analysis and visualization skills
• Ensure that processes are well documented
• Present project status to peers and the leadership team as needed
• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Requirements

• Education - At least a junior at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Data Science, AI/ML, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
• Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
• Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

• Prior related internship or co-op experience
• Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
• Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong planning & organizational skills
• Experience building at least one AI/ML application
• Skills in Python, mySQL, or related Data and Analytics skills
• Experience building code pipelines, and CI/CD processes
• Exposure to or experience with AWS services
