About the position

The Software Engineering Manager 2 - Integration & Test at Northrop Grumman in San Diego is responsible for leading a team of 10-20 individuals through the full software development life cycle in an Agile environment. This role involves collaboration with various engineering teams to meet mission objectives, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure high-quality software delivery. The position requires a strong background in software development, leadership in Agile practices, and the ability to manage complex projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of software engineers through the full software development life cycle in an Agile environment.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, Test Automation, DevSecOps, and Systems Test teams.
  • Implement Agile development techniques and metrics to manage team progress and quality.
  • Manage and report budget and schedule status for software projects.
  • Oversee the quality and timeliness of software products, identifying and remediating potential issues.
  • Support program reviews and planning based on received budget advice and task assignments.
  • Provide functional management to direct reports, including career guidance and staffing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 9 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 7 years of experience in software development.
  • Prior leadership experience in Agile development environments.
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • At least 4 years of experience with programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python, Go, C++, C#, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, or KornShell.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies and service providers.
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active/Current Special Program Access.
  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM discipline.
  • Prior experience in engineering functional management.
  • Experience with cost account management and task/resource planning.
  • Advanced experience with databases like Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with container management tools like Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
