About the position

As an Engineering Manager on the Gusto Pro team, you will lead a small team of engineers, focusing on enhancing the product experience for Accountant Partners. Your role involves supporting team growth, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving technical projects to simplify client management for accountants. You will foster a high-performance culture and ensure the team is equipped to deliver their best work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular 1:1s with team members to support their growth and learning.
• Build and foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
• Collaborate with product management and design teams to define problem spaces and lead technical projects from planning to delivery.
• Help build and manage team processes that enable optimal performance.
• Partner with Marketing, Sales, and other teams to drive business growth.
• Provide and receive mentorship and peer support.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant hands-on programming experience.
• 2+ years of engineering management experience.
• Experience on a growth team.
• Ability to guide the team strategically and contribute hands-on as needed.
• Experience in reviewing code and coding to support the team.
• Comfortable navigating complex and ambiguous problem spaces.
• Experience in negotiating cross-functional projects.
