About the position

DISH, an EchoStar Company, is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a technical team responsible for enhancing partnerships and streamlining solutions within the AdTech space. This role is pivotal in shaping the product roadmap and vision for DISH Media, which provides advertisers with intelligent solutions to maximize exposure to desired audiences across DISH and Sling. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating innovative solutions that maximize brand and audience impact, and will possess a systems-level thinking approach while being detail-oriented. In this position, you will be responsible for setting an ambitious production vision for designing reusable utilities across multiple journeys. You will oversee all aspects of technology product development, including defining, creating, developing, and implementing a prioritized backlog of product features. A strong customer focus is essential, as you will need to develop a deep understanding of the target market, build relationships with key stakeholders, and define a business strategy for cross-enterprise utilities. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance to the development team to meet critical deliverables and timelines. Your leadership will be crucial in supporting the Media Sales team, operations team, and Data team to deliver exceptional value to customers and partners. You will also be responsible for translating product vision into specific deliverables, ensuring rigorous execution, and managing the product feature backlog effectively. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying process improvements and outlining a vision for future use-cases to leverage scalability across unique journeys. You will focus on business impact and provide actionable recommendations informed by high-quality data analysis and metrics. Furthermore, you will be at the forefront of evolving the way teams work together by incorporating design thinking and a multi-channel approach, ensuring end-to-end collaboration. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will partner with the Media Sales Data team to identify and deliver new opportunities to sell data as a product, and you will communicate and negotiate directly with software vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a technical team of developers, testing & quality assurance, and product owners on improving partnerships, streamlining intake and enhancing reusability of solutions
  • Be responsible for the IT vision and execution of the platforms to support the DISH Media Sales team for Customer/Partner acquisition, ad inventory, campaign management and fulfillment, billing and campaign performance
  • Translate product vision into specific deliverables, ensuring rigor in execution and attention to detail by effectively managing the product feature backlog
  • Support iterative testing and ongoing improvement of the customer experience
  • Identify and partner on process improvements
  • Outline the vision for future use-cases as leverage for scalability across unique journeys
  • Focus on business impact and come up with actionable recommendations informed by high quality data analysis and metrics
  • Evolve the way we work across teams and the company by incorporating design thinking, a multi-channel approach, and end to end collaboration
  • Partner with the Media Sales Data team to identify and deliver new opportunities to sell our data as a product
  • Communicate & negotiate directly with software vendors

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • At least 6+ years of experience supporting high-volume/large-scale environments
  • Media industry experience (broadcast or production) preferred
  • Extensive experience with CRM Systems like Salesforce
  • Proficient in Ad Sales order management systems such as MediaOcean, Decentrix, and WideOrbit
  • Hands-on experience with ad servers, particularly Freewheel
  • Familiarity with programmatic buying tools like The Trade Desk
  • Strong understanding of analytics and reporting tools such as Nielsen and Comscore
  • Knowledge of addressable TV solutions like Invidi
  • Experience with any one of the public cloud service offerings (AWS, Azure, Google)
  • Experience with any script language development (Python, Node.js, Perl)
  • Coaching & support for skills for employee development/enhancement
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Self-starter with outstanding organizational skills and the ability to track multiple initiatives going on all at once
