About the position

The Software Engineering Manager for Cameras at Verkada will lead a team focused on developing user-facing applications for the company's cloud-managed security camera systems. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on coding, project execution, and collaboration with product and design teams to enhance user experiences. The manager will be responsible for inspiring and guiding engineers while ensuring the successful delivery of features and maintaining high standards of quality.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage the user-facing applications in the camera product, overseeing both frontend and backend engineers.
• Actively write code or prototype new features as needed.
• Inspire the team to create highly polished and delightful user experiences.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to build and ship features that delight users and customers.
• Drive project execution and accountability within the team.
• Work with other engineering leaders to define, communicate, and execute on goals, priorities, and processes.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience managing, leading, and inspiring a team of engineers, including hiring, retaining, and managing performance.
• 5+ years of work experience in software engineering roles.
• Experience with both backend and frontend development.
• Experience working in an agile team software development environment.
• Strong eye for design, product details, and polish.
• Working knowledge of at least one server-side framework and one database system.
• Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field.
