About the position

The Software Engineering Manager for the Enterprise Entitlements Engineering Team at Capital One is responsible for leading a team of developers to deliver risk-compliant and consistent customer experiences across various service channels. This role involves guiding the team in design, architecture, implementation, validation, and monitoring of technology projects, primarily using Java and cloud services like AWS. The manager will also play a key role in driving technological transformation within the company, mentoring team members, and collaborating with product managers to create impactful cloud-based solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers.
  • Ensure delivery of risk-compliant and consistent customer experiences across all service channels.
  • Provide guidance and direction in design, architecture, implementation, validation, and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions.
  • Stay updated on tech trends and mentor other members of the engineering community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply).
  • At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • At least 2 years of people management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 7+ years of experience in JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go.
  • 3+ years of experience influencing and defining technical strategy for a team.
  • 4+ years of experience developing API technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service.
  • 3+ years of experience building Serverless and Event Driven architectures on AWS.
  • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
