About the position

The position is for a Software Engineering Manager within Apple's Health Research Applications team, focusing on the development of health research features for iPhone and Apple Watch. The role involves leading a team of engineers to enhance the Apple Research app, which facilitates participation in large-scale health studies. The manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to define product features, manage resources, and ensure engineering excellence while fostering a diverse and talented team.

Responsibilities

• Define product features, functional specs, resource planning, and development schedules.
• Scope and prioritize features and bug fixes.
• Represent the team and its technology with engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
• Advise and encourage engineering best practices to deliver quality features while effectively controlling risk.
• Define and grow a diverse and world-class engineering team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience including Apple platform technologies like iOS & macOS frameworks, Swift/Objective-C, Xcode, etc.
• Successfully launched high-quality consumer products and care deeply about product excellence.
• Technical experience with native iOS development and a strong grasp of computer science fundamentals.
• Drive forward through various constraints and ambiguity on difficult problems to make sound decisions.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence cross-functionally and communicate clearly with senior leadership.

• 3+ years experience leading software engineering teams.
