About the position
The Software Engineering Manager II - Consumer at Vital Tech Solutions is responsible for leading and mentoring a software engineering team focused on developing and maintaining complex software solutions for a Fortune 500 customer. This role emphasizes technical leadership, Agile methodologies, and the delivery of high-quality software products that meet customer needs. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to development standards and to drive continuous improvement in software delivery processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor software engineering team members in Java, structured programming, OOP, microservices, DevOps, and cloud domains.
- Foster an Agile and product mindset within the team, promoting self-organization and cross-functionality.
- Design software solutions to meet customer requirements across multiple applications.
- Collaborate with senior product managers, Agile managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on software initiatives.
- Support software delivery teams in following development processes and technology standards.
- Develop and track delivery metrics to monitor technical health and progress toward delivery goals.
- Evaluate team quality performance and provide coaching and mentorship to team members.
- Ensure operational success by understanding the system ecosystem, architecture, and technologies used to achieve business outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software technical leadership experience leading large software engineering teams.
- Proven experience in technical leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional project execution.
- Extensive experience implementing Agile and DevOps practices, including test-driven development and continuous integration.
- Experience in microservices design strategies and implementation, including migration planning and service granularity.
- Experience with cloud migrations and working in a mixed on-prem/cloud environment.
Nice-to-haves
- 4 years of experience leading initiatives in a Java ecosystem.
- Experience architecting and building solutions in AWS using EKS, Lambda, S3, and/or Aurora.
- Track record of identifying opportunities for improvement through new tools and approaches.
- Experience with resilient transaction models and operationalizing rules engines.
