About the position

The Software Engineering Manager in Operational Technology at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) is responsible for leading a team of software engineers to develop and deliver high-quality software solutions. This role combines technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills to ensure the safety, reliability, security, and performance of operational technology systems. The manager will oversee project management, team development, process improvement, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership to a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Oversee the estimating, planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope.
  • Maintain an understanding of software development principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • Continuously assess and improve development processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Effectively communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in the recruitment process by interviewing and assessing potential candidates.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading software engineering teams.
  • Strong background in agile methodologies and the ability to mentor others in their use.
  • Understanding of modern development and deployment infrastructure, including CI/CD, testing, and enterprise deployment.
  • Knowledge of Software Systems, Software Development Life Cycle, and Software Quality Assurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • College degree in a Technical or Management/Leadership Discipline, including Computer Science, Software Engineering, or MBA.
  • Experience in estimating, budgeting, and controlling project scope.
  • Knowledge of current technologies and regulatory requirements.
