About the position

The Software Engineering Manager for Media (Video/Audio) at Meta is responsible for leading a team of engineers focused on developing and enhancing audio and video technologies that power communication across Meta's family of apps. This role involves managing technical teams, fostering career development, and driving innovative projects that integrate advanced media processing capabilities. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence and contribute to the evolution of next-generation media capture and rendering systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Video and Audio software engineers and help them develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional hardware and software engineering teams
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement
  • Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams
  • Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees
  • Drive 0 to 1 initiatives such as integration with GenAI
  • Lead a strong team of engineers to build/evolve next generation Camera & Audio Capture/Media Rendering stack
  • Establish strong collaboration across teams in Meta

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience managing and recruiting technical teams, including performance management
  • 8+ years experience in software development
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience developing, coaching, and managing engineers

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Media domain (Camera, Audio, Video)
  • Experience in digital signal processing is a plus
  • Knowledge in audio/video capture or render algorithms for consumer devices
  • Experience supporting platform teams and strong at technical execution & collaboration
