About the position

The Software Engineering Manager for New Glenn Avionics at Blue Origin will lead a team responsible for developing software critical for the verification of spaceflight systems. This role involves managing a diverse team of engineers, ensuring the delivery and maintenance of software infrastructure, and collaborating with various teams to solve technical problems. The position emphasizes a commitment to safety, quality, and the mission of enabling human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of software for verification of spaceflight systems.
  • Lead a software development team, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Grow the team by hiring top talent and coaching existing members.
  • Prioritize tasks and run agile sprints effectively.
  • Coordinate work with internal customers and collaborate with other teams.
  • Engage in solving technical problems alongside the team.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • 3+ years of experience with embedded software, kernel development, or systems software components.
  • 2+ years of experience leading and managing teams.
  • Experience with agile software development practices.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing testing labs and verification environments.
  • Knowledge in hardware development and verification.
  • M.S. degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with DO-178C or other safety-critical software standards.
