Oculus Studios is expanding its Central Technology team, focusing on enhancing the capabilities of its First Party Game Studios, which include Armature Studios, Beat Games, BigBox VR, Camouflaj, Downpour Interactive, Sanzaru Games, Twisted Pixel, Supernatural, and Ouru. The Central Technology team plays a crucial role in helping these studios leverage the extensive infrastructure that Meta provides, aiming to reduce overhead and streamline operations across the board. We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager who will support engineers in developing common client-facing solutions such as Game Hosting & Matchmaking, Voice Chat, In-Game Notifications, Persistent Player & Game Data, Reporting, Moderation, Logging & Analytics, and Common Tooling. In this role, you will provide timely feedback to engineers to foster their professional growth and assist them in addressing personal concerns that may impact their work. You will also mediate disputes within the team and collaborate with management across Oculus Studios to ensure alignment on long-term objectives. Your responsibilities will include defining the roadmap for Meta's infrastructure and New Technology Support for game studios, working on multi-year projects, and identifying common needs across studios to propose effective solutions. You will be involved in building and launching features as part of first-party products, learning from these launches to enhance future engagements. As a full-stack developer, you will work with various coding languages, including CPP, C#, Python, Hack, JavaScript, and React, and gain familiarity with multiple game engines such as Unity and Unreal. You will also engage with third-party game technologies like AWS GameLift and help determine the best hosting environments for different scenarios. Your role will include onboarding new engineers to Meta's infrastructure and internal tools while advocating for game development needs within Meta's core teams. You will support game studios during break/fix scenarios and assist them in building, scaling, and optimizing features for their titles.
