Oculus Studios is expanding its Central Technology team, focusing on enhancing the capabilities of its First Party Game Studios, which include Armature Studios, Beat Games, BigBox VR, Camouflaj, Downpour Interactive, Sanzaru Games, Twisted Pixel, Supernatural, and Ouru. The Central Technology team plays a crucial role in helping these studios leverage the extensive infrastructure provided by Meta. We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager who can effectively support engineers in developing common client-facing solutions across Oculus Studios, such as Game Hosting & Matchmaking, Voice Chat, In-Game Notifications, Persistent Player & Game Data, Reporting, Moderation, Logging & Analytics, and Common Tooling. In this role, you will provide timely and constructive feedback to engineers, helping them grow in their careers while addressing any personal concerns that may impact their work. You will also mediate disputes and ensure alignment on long-term objectives with various stakeholders, including Studio Technical Directors and Producers. Your responsibilities will include defining the roadmap for Meta's infrastructure and New Technology Support for game studios, collaborating with first-party game studios to identify common needs, and proposing solutions that gain buy-in from all parties involved. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be involved in building and launching features as part of a first-party product, learning from these launches to enhance future engagements. You will also work on custom solutions that align with the Metaverse, such as Avatars and Common Identity, and ensure these features are effectively delivered to consumers through game launches. Familiarity with multiple coding languages (e.g., CPP, C#, Python, Hack, JavaScript, React) and game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal) is essential, as is the ability to work with various third-party game technologies like AWS GameLift and Unity Vivox. Additionally, you will help onboard new engineers to Meta's infrastructure and internal tools, ensuring that the unique challenges of game development are understood and addressed. You will partner with other Meta teams to migrate game studio services while maintaining a focus on reliability, scalability, and security. Supporting game studios during break/fix scenarios and assisting them in building, scaling, and optimizing new features for their titles will also be part of your role.
