Oculus Studios is expanding its Central Technology team, focusing on enhancing the capabilities of its First Party Game Studios, which include Armature Studios, Beat Games, BigBox VR, Camouflaj, Downpour Interactive, Sanzaru Games, Twisted Pixel, Supernatural, and Ouru. The Central Technology team plays a crucial role in helping these studios leverage the economies of scale that Meta provides. We are seeking engineers who can effectively navigate Meta's extensive infrastructure and are enthusiastic about the opportunity to assist studios in creating video games. Our collaborative efforts aim to build centralized solutions and shared technologies that reduce overhead for Oculus Studios across the board. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will support engineers who drive common client-facing solutions across Oculus Studios, including Game Hosting & Matchmaking, Voice Chat, In-Game Notifications, Persistent Player & Game Data, Reporting, Moderation, Logging & Analytics, and Common Tooling. Your role will involve providing timely feedback to help engineers grow in their careers, addressing personal concerns that may impact their work, and mediating disputes within the team. You will collaborate with management and leadership across Oculus Studios to ensure alignment on long-term objectives, helping to define the roadmap for Meta's infrastructure and New Technology Support for game studios. You will work to identify common needs across first-party game studios, collecting requirements and proposing solutions to gain buy-in. This includes building shipping features as part of a first-party product and launching them to consumers, while also learning from these launches to enhance future engagements. Additionally, you will develop custom solutions that align with the Metaverse, such as Avatars and Common Identity, and ensure these features are effectively delivered to consumers through game launches. As a full-stack developer, you will gain familiarity with multiple coding languages, including CPP, C#, Python, Hack, JavaScript, and React, and work with various game engines like Unity and Unreal. You will also become acquainted with third-party game technologies, such as AWS GameLift and Unity Vivox, and help determine the best hosting environments for different scenarios. Your responsibilities will include onboarding new game studio engineers to Meta's infrastructure and internal tools, while advocating for the needs of game development within core Meta teams. You will support game studios during break/fix scenarios and assist them in building, scaling, and optimizing new features for their current and future titles.
