About the position

The Software Engineering Manager for OpenBMC will lead a team responsible for developing and managing an open-source, Linux-based embedded system that enables remote management at scale. This role involves overseeing the end-to-end ownership of baseboard management controllers (BMC), from conception to production, while ensuring the delivery of innovative and reliable software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, develop, and debug server hardware/software integrations
• Provide technical leadership for innovative, reliable, scalable, and maintainable software solutions
• Provide team guidance, regular feedback, education, coaching, and mentoring
• Perform architectural, design, and code reviews that improve software engineering quality
• Create career development plans, manage performance, and conduct performance reviews
• Identify, recruit, interview, and hire new software engineers, while helping the team scale effectively
• Collaborate in a team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines, making the architectural tradeoffs required to rapidly deliver software solutions

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science or related field
• 3+ years of experience managing engineers
• 5+ years of experience working on hardware/software integrations for servers
• Experience designing software systems and services
• Proven track record of software development, including shipping one or more products on large code bases that span a range of platforms and tools
• Experience working across disciplines to drive solution
