About the position

As a Software Engineering Manager at Avaya, you will play a pivotal role in leading an agile team of 10 engineers dedicated to developing and maintaining a critical application within the Contact Center domain. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States or Canada, provided you are already located in one of these countries. The role does not offer sponsorship for applicants outside of the U.S. or Canada. In this capacity, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and quality assurance of the application, ensuring that all project milestones are met on schedule and within budget. You will be tasked with organizing interdepartmental activities and providing regular status updates on key program milestones. As a People Manager, you will engage in coaching and management functions, including performance assessments, while working under the guidance of upper management. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering an open and transparent work environment, where you will attract and retain top talent, assess team performance, and focus on career growth opportunities for your engineers. You will also be responsible for identifying and resolving any program deviations that may arise during the development process, ensuring that the team remains aligned with the project goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in Agile development
  • Experience leading distributed teams (in different time zones preferred)
  • Experience leading software development and/or QA efforts
  • Responsible for project outcomes in terms of deliverables, budget, and timeline
  • Experience in telecom/contact center industry and with cloud-based technologies is highly desirable
  • Awareness of cloud native technologies - hosted Kubernetes applications and hosted platform/container services
  • Ability to communicate with all levels within the company
  • Knowledge of Agile / Scrum methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team
  • Experience with related tools and processes: Git, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, TDD, BDD, API first, Code Reviews
  • Capable of making timely decisions with incomplete information
  • Can identify trends/root causes and take action to achieve desired results
  • Advanced English proficiency
  • 10+ years related industry experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related field
  • Agile Certifications (desired)
