About the position

The Software Engineering Manager at Palco is responsible for leading a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions that empower individuals with disabilities and those aging to live independent lives. This role involves mentoring team members, optimizing development processes, and driving the technical vision to align with business goals, all while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage software engineers, fostering career growth and technical development.
  • Set performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation within the team.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.
  • Identify risks and roadblocks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project momentum.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team, reviewing code, designs, and architecture to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Drive technical excellence and best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and engineering best practices to drive innovation.
  • Continuously improve engineering practices by implementing effective processes and tools.
  • Optimize workflows for development, testing, and deployment.
  • Participate in the recruitment and hiring of new engineers to expand and strengthen the team.
  • Onboard new hires and help them integrate into the team, fostering a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in React, API development, and MySQL.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, cloud platforms, and scalable system design.
  • Proven experience leading remote teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
