About the position

The Engineering Manager will lead a team responsible for developing cloud services and APIs for Zoox's robotaxi service, focusing on ride hailing functionalities such as dispatch, routing, payments, and telemetry processing. This role emphasizes team growth, collaboration with product management, and ensuring team health and happiness while driving impactful engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers, driving them to perform at their best.
• Identify impactful opportunities and nudge along execution.
• Elevate recognition of team efforts.
• Collaborate closely with product management to shape roadmaps for the team.
• Maximize team happiness and output, giving and seeking feedback.
• Identify and resolve conflicts early within the team.
• Collaborate with engineers and other managers across the organization to achieve shared milestones.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience managing an engineering team.
• 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably with Kotlin and/or Java.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure.
• Experience working with resilient distributed microservices.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience managing a team that works with production serving cloud web services.
• Passionate about optimizing software systems for maximum efficiency and resilience.
• Experience with Spring Boot based microservice architectures, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, or Docker.
