Chewy is hiring a Software Development Manager for our Supply Chain and Data Science Platform Team in Boston, MA or Plantation, FL. This position will have exposure across the entire supply chain enterprise, influencing the vision and implementation of architecture, design, and features that directly impact the company's bottom line. In this role, you will provide strategic direction and technical leadership in developing, deploying, and maintaining data science models and algorithms. You will collaborate closely with data scientists and engineers to translate business requirements into scalable and efficient data-driven solutions. Additionally, you will lead the evaluation and adoption of cutting-edge data science technologies, tools, and methodologies to drive innovation and enhance predictive capabilities. You will establish and enforce coding standards, code review processes, and quality assurance practices. Conducting regular code reviews, you will provide constructive feedback to team members to improve code quality, readability, and maintainability. Implementing automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines will be essential to ensure continuous integration and delivery of high-quality software. Utilizing your expertise in AWS services, you will architect and implement scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions. You will design and deploy cloud-native applications leveraging services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, and ECS/EKS, while implementing best security, compliance, and performance optimization practices in AWS environments. Collaboration with product managers and stakeholders will be key to managing backlog, prioritizing features, and establishing realistic timelines. You will drive project execution, identifying key milestones and dependencies, resourcing, monitoring progress, addressing impediments, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions. As a manager, you will oversee a team of software engineers responsible for building Chewy's Supply Chain and Data science platform initiative. Mentoring and coaching team members will be crucial, guiding their technical skills development, career growth, and professional excellence. You will also identify team training opportunities and skill gaps, implementing initiatives to enhance technical capabilities and expertise, while fostering a supportive and inclusive team culture that values diversity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Recruiting and hiring new engineers will also be part of your responsibilities. Finally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, quality assurance, and operations, to align priorities and deliver integrated solutions. Facilitating communication and collaboration between teams, you will resolve conflicts and foster a culture of transparency and accountability.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, or a similar math or engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Software Development as a software/data engineer.
  • Excellent ability to manage teams and lead from the front.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, focusing on driving results and delivering value to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python with hands-on experience in data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
  • Extensive experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and proficiency in cloud architecture design and implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB.
  • Solid understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and tools (e.g., JIRA, Git).
  • Extensive experience with data science tools and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and deep learning techniques.
  • Solid fundamental background in multiple testing disciplines (e.g., APIs, Functional UI testing, Performance testing, data-oriented systems testing, distributed systems, etc.).
